It is a Spiritual Problem: A Geopolitical Look at Nigeria’s Crisis
Real-world application and the RGP Interview with Dr. Mark Fulmer
For those who have listened to the RGP Talk podcast, you’ve heard me say often: “It’s not just geopolitical; it’s also spiritual.” Because Real Geopolitiks (RGP) looks at world events through the lens of a Christian Biblical worldview, we cannot ignore the moral implications of the genocide of Christians, oppressive global tyranny, and international human trafficking. - Dr. Mark Fulmer, RPG

The Crisis in Nigeria
Over the years, I have been burdened by the lack of good governance and the rule of law in my nation, Nigeria. I joined a civil society organization in 2001 to engage the polity and help reshape society. However, by 2004, I saw the futility of our efforts as Nigeria continued its downward slide at an even faster pace. It was then that the Lord impressed upon me: “It’s a spiritual problem, and you are looking for a physical solution.”
The standard of government God desires on earth is the same as He operates in heaven: “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” In Isaiah 9:6, we see a direct reference: “The government shall be upon His shoulder.” This implies that good governance and the rule of law must rest on Christian principles to function correctly.

for God’s Transformation Agenda for NATIONS
authored by Njidika Anyadeka
In her book, God’s Transformation Agenda for NATIONS, Njideka Anyadike addresses the spiritual call to action. Her central thesis defines a transformed nation as one where the environment, the system of government, the rate of development, and the people’s conduct have been totally changed for the better.

Anyadike argues that a weak and divided church can never transform a nation. The unity of the Church is the principal key to revival and national healing. We must invite God to the battlefield, binding the strongman on the Mountain of Government to take our rightful place (Matthew 12:29). When true Christians are in charge of national affairs, integrity and accountability will reign.
